My full name is Fabián Jacob - my family calls me Fabián (by the way, if you are looking at this from Lynx or some other client which makes my name show up with the character &, that is not because I have some wierd Dutch characters in my name, but because your client is not interpreting the Netscape 1.1 extensions for accents, of which one should be on the last a in my name). Because I was not happy with the default pronunciation of Fabian in Dutch, I started tentatively calling myself by my initials when I was around seventeen, and switched over completely when I moved to Amsterdam.
It was around that time that I first started using e-mail and existing on the networks. I started off by signing F. J. but decided that looked stupid. I then followed with F.J. but didn't like that much either. FJ was deemed too feeble and thin. On an impulse, I tried FJ.. and almost liked it. Some hunting on the keyboard for a good filler resulted in the final FJ!! The !! are purely for typographical balance, not pronunciation - but you are welcome to try.
And no, addressing me by my full first names doesn't score you any points with me.
